Michael Kihn has been teaching private instructions (in english and german language) to students in a wide range of age and level for over ten years. He also lead drum-clinics in a public environment as well as in music colleges like at "Vienna Music Institute" (Vienna/Austria) and at "Berklee College of Music" (Boston/USA).

Since 2005, Michael was attempting to find new, logical and conceptual ways of how to approach, teach and learn pre-existing and pre-defined subjects as well as "not yet established" subjects. Chasing clear, appropriate and individual goals is the first and most important step to guarantee improvement. It also preserves the joy and fun of learning an instrument.

During his studies in Vienna (Dual Major: Performance & Education) and Boston (Performance Degree) Michael continuously wrote down, reviewed, re-organized and refined"his ways" of thinking, learning and teaching different subjects. Staying open minded, sharing thughts with students and professors, using his digitized collection as the fundament for drum-clinics ... is ensuring to cover the most recent accomplishments in drumming and art as well as paying tribute to the tradition of this instrument.

Pursuing higher goals in coordination, technique, vocabulary, polyrhythm&polymetric, brushes, improvising, expression, interaction, support, musicality ... is a challenging thing and often has discouraging effects on students.

"Clarity, examples, exercises, a varying balance between organized and un-organized study, a step-by-step approach, coaching and defining appropriate goals hopefully provide a continuous improvement and consistant joy which finally will impact our personality in a very positive way. I call it "Drum-Fun" "
